By the time the weekend rolls around my 'work cup' is often pretty full. While it is a rewarding part of my life, it is not the only part and sometimes needs to share the spotlight.
Something I always look forward too is our regular Saturday morning trip to a local cafe. A coffee, relaxed chats and tasty food (the occasional almond croissant indulgence) is one way I find some balance in my life.
Essentially pouring out the tension and fatigue from my work cup and pouring coffee and renewed energy into my spiritual cup.
This follows the idea that "happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm and harmony." - Thomas Merton.
A sense of being content and happy can only be achieved if there is a balance between the physical, the mental, the spiritual and the social/emotional. Although I must admit intensity does help every now and again (that second croissant was temporarily worth it).
